Capilano University is reporting problems with their GODOT holdings display:
“When anyone from off-campus (such as a student or an Askawayer), clicks on “Where can I get This?” to link to holdings from any of our databases, the screen that comes up shows the SFU holdings screen not the CapU one. The links all require an SFU login so our students are not able to access any links nor to request the item.
SFU and Cap are working on this and hoping to solve it as soon as possible.

Did you know? Searching by DOI

If someone has a DOI, and no other information about an article, how do you search for that article?
You can go here, to The DOI System:
Scroll down the page, and look for the section: Resolve a DOI name
Copy and paste (or type) your DOI into the search field, and click the submit button.
Presto! The article’s information is displayed. Now you can search by journal title, article title, author, or whatever you like.

TWU Library Services Disruption March 7-8

TWU will be doing a critical server upgrade on March 7 & 8. While the library server is not directly involved, library services that use the main TWU server are. No one is sure exactly what will happen, but this is what they feel is the likely scenario:
On March 7 and 8, online library services & resources will be disrupted due to computer systems maintenance .Alloway Library staff want to ensure that library patrons are prepared for this outage.
Information Technology staff advise us that the public terminals in the library should be able to access the library’s catalogue, but will not be able to access databases, online journals or student portal application such as eCourses, or mytwu email. We expect that printing and Microsoft Office applications on the public terminals will be available. While the network is down there will be no access from outside of the library to the catalogue, databases, or online journals. Alloway Library staff will not be able to send or receive email during the shutdown.
During the Mar 7 -8 system-down period we expect:
* In-library access to the catalogue
* Workstation access to Microsoft Office
* Check-out material
* Renew material in person or by phone
* Wireless access to the internet. See exceptions below
* No access to databases and online journals
* No access from outside of the building to the catalogue, databases, or journals
* No access from library workstations to the internet
* No online renewals
* No access to student portal
* No email notifications sent
Subject to change without notice!
To assist researchers access the internet the reference librarian will have a wireless laptop during Information Desk hours on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 – 4:30.
Circulation staff will be able to check out and renew material, but may ask patrons to postpone borrowing or limit the number of items borrowed until the system is back online.
Please pass this along to AskAway librarians, in case they encounter a TWU student wondering why there’s no access to online resources.
