Want to know more about your patrons? To learn more about statistics available to you, check out the latest brown bag presentation: AskAway Statistics for Administrators.
Even if you don’t have an administrator account, you can access some of the statistics that are described.
A recording of the presentation, as well as a table of contents and the associated handout, are available here:
If you wish to view just part of the presentation, use the table of contents to determine the time index of the part you wish to view. Open the presentation, and pause it. Move the slider to the appropriate time index (or just before it), and let go. Wait for a moment, then press the Play button.
Reading the handout may also assist you in determining which part of the presentation that you wish to view.

Marketing AskAway at Your Library

Friday, March 7th, 2008

From the QP listserv:
Join us for a webinar on promoting your virtual reference service, Tuesday, March 18, 11:30 am – 12:30 p.m. EST [3:30 – 4:30 pm GMT] ***Note corrected time***
Academic librarians, are you looking for ways to position your library as the information provider of choice?
Virtual reference provides a great opportunity to guide students to the best resources when they need your help the most. Our two speakers, both heading successful virtual reference services at large academic libraries (the University of Washington in the United States and the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom) will share their tips on promoting their chat and e-mail reference services to students on campus and off, and discuss what works to capture the attention of their campus constituencies. For example, the University of Washington saw an increase of 43% in chat and e-mail activity during the 2006–2007 academic year as a result of effectively promoting their service.

Brown-bag presentation: AskAway Statistics for Administrators

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Next week’s Brown-bag presentation will be on the topic: AskAway Statistics for Administrators.
Want to know how many of your patrons are using AskAway? When they are using it? Why they are using it? What type of student they are? This session will be of interest to library administrators who want to find out more about how their students are using AskAway.
Sunni will walk you through the who, what, when, where and whys for your institution’s patrons, showing you how to access statistics from within the QP module and on the Portal.
Bring your questions!
Time: Monday, March 10, 12:15-12:45pm
If you are unable to attend this session due to time constraints, please let Sunni know – if there is enough interest we could do a repeat session. As always, a recording of the presentation will also be available.
A link to this session was emailed to the service provider and administrator listservs on Monday, March 3.
